Joe Budden has praised Megan Thee Stallion‘s new single, “Cobra.” On Sunday (Nov. 5), The Joe Budden Podcast discussed the Houston rapper’s latest offering and gave the song’s producer his flowers. In fact, Budden tried to call one of the track’s producers, Derrick Milano, on air.

Joe, who has historically been critical of the GRAMMY award-winning rapper, admitted that Meg’s vulnerable lyrics interested him in the track. He then explained what about Meg’s demeanor specifically struck a chord with him. The former rapper also offered his condolences for Meg’s trauma, but insisted that that is what she needed to make stellar art.

“This is who I want to hear. I want to hear from bi**hes that’s depressed,” he expressed. “I want to hear from bi**hes that’s sad about some sh*t—’Yeah, this pu**y get poppin’, but I’m struggling inside.’ I think that’s where the best art comes from. It’s not gender-specific…If you don’t like this, you hating. Case closed.”

“Meg, I ain’t gonna lie to you. You absolutely went crazy on this…And I hope you feel better. But not all the way better, because we need this. I hope your problems are rectified, but not, like, really soon.”

Megan Thee Stallion caught wind of the praise and shared Joe’s critique to her Instagram Story.

But only some things during the conversation surrounding Megan Thee Stallion’s art were positive. The Mood Muzik emcee then compared “Cobra” to “Bongos.” He asserted that Meg gave Cardi B some “bullsh*t” knowing she had this in the tuck.

“You went over there and gave Cardi that mid, knowing you had this heat in your studio? That’s what she did! She went to Cardi’s studio with that congo bongo bullsh*t they both did and left like ‘Gotcha, bi**h.’ And she was in there getting information too like, ‘You gon lead with this? This your first record? This is gonna rattle the clubs. I might even come right after you,’” he hypothesized before laughing.
